Producing Quality Patient Health Information

In the past we have offered DISCERN training for all people wanting to both appraise health information on treatment choices and for providers wishing to produce better quality information. DISCERN is a brief questionnaire which has been developed to help patients, carers and other health information users assess the quality of written consumer health information on treatment choices.

A typical DISCERN programme looked at issues around quality, the DISCERN tool and its uses and appraised a relevant factsheet in a small group setting. For the 'Executive Summary' on DISCERN workshops click here.

We have also provided training with the Centre for Health Information Quality and their 'Hi Quality' guidelines, focused more specifically to information providers.

We are currently developing these workshops and will be using a number of tools and instruments to help providers produce better quality patient information.
